About the Owner
Bernard Dawson
Growing up on the family farm, a passion for the outdoors and working with my hands was instilled in me from a young age. Spending a large portion of my free time fishing the lake at my Papaw's farm, I developed a love for the water.
After graduating highschool in 2022, I studied Marine Service Technology at the Marine Trades Institute in Cedarville, Michigan. Making full use of my time, I consumed every piece of information I could get my hands on. I passed 5 ABYC certification exams, obtained a Mercury Technician ID, and received the "Shipmate of the Year" award for my program. Through my time at MTI I had the opportunity to visit some of the largest boatyard operations in the state, speaking with the service managers and technicians at each. These experiences were invaluable in forming my picture of the standard for top-notch marine service.
Returning to Louisville with a solid foundation of knowledge, ready for some real-world experience, I worked as a Service Technician for Marine Sales and Services Inc. from 2023-2025. Asking questions and continuing certifications, I honed my skillset, working on a wide range of boats and projects. During this time, I became a Mercury Outboard and Mercruiser certified technician.
In 2025, I started Dawson Marine with a vision to provide the highest quality marine service to our local boating community. I have made it my mission to never stop learning and pushing myself towards constant improvement. I would be honored to share my accumulated skills and experience with you by working on your boat.
